Timber and colour samples
Timber samples are £10 each. The colour range is £50. Both are posted free, and the cost comes off your order if you go ahead.
A cabinet is a piece of furniture before it is anything else, and it has to sit with the room it goes in. Oak, walnut and mahogany all move under daylight and lamplight, and a painted finish reads differently against a dark panelled wall than it does on a screen. Put a sample where the cabinet will stand and look at it at different times of day.
The timbers
Oak, walnut and mahogany are our standard timbers and are priced as shown on each design. The two figured oaks carry an uplift: character oak adds about 8% to the price of a cabinet and pippy oak about 12%. Every price ladder in the standard range shows all six columns, so you can see exactly what the choice costs before you order.
Character oak

Knots, medullary rays and colour movement left in rather than cut out. Adds about 8% to the cabinet.
Pippy oak

Clusters of small burr pips through the grain, and no two boards alike. Adds about 12%.
Walnut
£10
English walnut. Darker, more figured, and it changes most of the five in lamplight.
Any four timbers
£30
Any four of the five together for £30 rather than £40. Tell us which four, or leave it to us.
The colours
Colour is a separate question from timber. Our standard colours are Light, Medium and Dark, which go on any of the oaks, and Mahogany and Walnut, which go on those timbers. If none of the five is right, we match to whatever you give us — a paint reference, a piece of existing joinery, or a length of fabric, at no extra charge on a standard-range cabinet.
The colour samples are finished in the same shop as the cabinets, on the same primer and to the same sheen, so what arrives is what you will get. You choose your colour after you order; we ask for it along with your gun list.

All five standard colours — Light, Medium, Dark, Mahogany and Walnut — sent as one set. Colour matching to your own reference is included in the conversation that follows.
Matching what is already in the room
If the cabinet has to sit beside existing joinery, say so at the outset. It changes how we select the boards and how the polish is built, and it is far easier to do at the sample stage than at the finishing stage. Send a photograph with your order, or a small offcut if you have one.
What happens next
Samples are posted free, usually within a few days. When you are ready, choose your cabinet from the standard range and pay a 40% deposit to place the order, or tell us what you have in mind if the piece needs to be drawn from scratch.
Samples are charged in full at the time of ordering and are not part of the deposit and balance on a cabinet. The cost comes off your order if you go ahead.
